Alessandro Moreschi was a famous Italian castrato singer who is considered to be one of the last of the great castrati. He was born on November 11, 1858, in Monte Compatri, Italy, and was castrated at a young age to preserve his high-pitched singing voice. He was known for his powerful and emotional performances.
